My hubby and I were looking out the window and I said. "Are you ready to have been married to me for FIVE years this year?" He said, "Yep!" I replied, "Ready for 75 more?" He looked at me and said, "Babe. Do you know how old I will be in 75 years?"
Of course I do. And I can't wait for that cute little old man to be sitting in the rocking chair beside me. We are hoping for 80 years of marriage. No matter how old that would make us.
And we have known hard. We have known joy.
But most of all, we have known grace.
We all mess up in this life don't we? We all need people that surround us with grace when that happens. That serve us no matter what. Because they love us.
I heard a lady on the radio who was actually celebrating 80 years of marriage with her husband. They asked her the secret to a long marriage. She put it simply.
"Help each other. Laugh with each other. And love no matter the cost."
She is on to something. Not how many gifts you get. Or how many times you get what you want. Not selfish ambition. But servanthood.
On this fifth anniversary of ours, I am so thankful that God blessed us with each other. I am excited for what this year will bring to our family.
And babe, I have our secret to making it to celebrate 80 years together. I am honored to help you, laugh with you, and love you no matter the cost.
Happy Fifth Anniversary Beloved.
Here's to 75 more!
Love and Laughter,
