Sarah and Alex's wedding at Springdale House and Gardens in Columbia, SC this weekend was one I won’t soon forget. This weekend was a wedding I had been looking forward to for many months! Sarah went to college with another Poured Out Bride, Kristin, and contacted me after I took her engagement photos. I knew that Sarah had to be on our list of weddings this year!! It truly is such a small world!
Alex and Sarah met at team-in-training in 2011. And as their best man and maid of honor said in their toasts, the rest was history. From How I Met Your Mother episodes to running marathons, this couple has the sweetest story.
Alex and Sarah define fun-loving and adventurous couples in love and this is everything I hope for when I photograph couples. I wish for laughter, and joy, engagement sessions outdoors, and down-to-earth brides with big hearts for the people in their lives. This is Alex and Sarah to a T! On their wedding day they were just that. I have never seen a more laid back and care free bride and groom! They were just so excited to be there and be getting married. I remember walking into Sarah's bridal room and the first thing she did was ask about our baby girl! On her special day. Wow! I am so incredibly blessed with the couples I serve!
We were outstandingly lucky to have a beautiful fall engagement session on the State House Grounds in Columbia, SC and their wedding day was even more perfect!
The wedding day started in the upstairs rooms of the Springdale House in Columbia, SC. As we walked up the stairs, we could hear the sweet laughter of the bridesmaids. From the sweet gift from the groom to the first look, everything was incredibly precious and beautifully thought out. Everyone we met was kind, gracious, and fun! What more could we ask for!
The ceremony was tucked away behind the Springdale House and made for a beautifully intimate setting. Sarah was on top of every detail. You could see the time and thought that went into each part and piece of her day. She asked me to photograph two very special pieces of history in her family. One was a beautifully embroidered handkerchief. This was the handkerchief that was carried by her grandmother and great grandmother on their wedding days! The other was a piece of her grandmother's dress that was fashionably designed by her cousin into a garter! What incredible details!!!
Sarah and Alex, you two deserved this perfect day! I am so beyond happy that I got to be there to witness the beginning of your next big journey together! Thank you a million times over for being so incredible! I hope your marriage gets better each and every day. Your joy is contagious and I absolutely loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day! I pray you have many more decades of love and happiness! The best is yet to be!
