Family photography is an important part of what I do. Most of my families are brides as their homes begin to grow. I love nothing more than getting to be a continuous part of my couples lives!
However, I have tasked myself with something. Shooting my own family portraits.
My sweet brother and sister-in-law are in the Air Force. They have gotten new orders. Which means the annual Christmas portrait will have to be taken in July.
This year, our location is changing up a bit. So not only are three families getting together to have their photos taken, but also are all travelling to an "undisclosed location"!
Whew. As I am prepping for this stellar family session with me in front of the camera, I am feeling what my clients feel when they are planning their session.
What do we wear?
I haven't lost enough weight.
Oh lordy, if Uncle Bob wears those 1980s tennis shoes I'm gonna croak.

I feel ya friend. I really do. But it doesn't have to be that way.
I have to take a breath too.
Photographs are not the Red Carpet. They are a snapshot of love.
Photographs are not perfect Pinterest pins. They are forever memories of a time you'll never get back.
Sadly, for some of my families they can be the last photograph of a loved one. They are important. They are beautiful. They are heirlooms.
Don't put off your family photos just because a few extra pounds has attached itself to your beautiful self.
Don't worry about Uncle Bob, educate him.
Don't hold back laughter, smiles, and joy. They have a way of instantly taking off those extra pounds and wrinkles. I promise.
It's what I do. I make sure that you have as much fun with me as you would at a family dinner. Well, as long as those family dinners are fun, happy, and joyful. :)
Photographers worry over family photos too! But we should know that the ultimate goal is to forever remember this sliver of time we had together.
And that is beautiful.
Love and Laughter,
